House System

At St Robert Southwell, the House System was actually introduced many years ago. We are now very keen to raise its profile as an integral part of our pastoral system.

The House System allows every pupil and member of staff to feel a sense of belonging by becoming a member of St Bernadette (green), St Wilfrid (yellow), St Richard (red) or St Clare (blue).

By being a member of the House family, pupils and staff are encouraged to show team spirit as all of the Houses thrive on the ethos of 'playing a part.' Each house is made up of children from all year groups and have dedicated and devoted House Captains to promote and encourage engagement in the House System.

We are aiming to make Inter-House Events a major pastoral element of school which develops children's social, team-working and organisation (amongst other) skills. The House System aims to reflect the ethos of the school and the Mission Statement of St Robert's: becoming compassionate, enlightened, faithful and active members of modern society.

There will be many opportunities for Inter-House events throughout the year from all areas of school life. This blend will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to represent their House in something they enjoy and are good at.

The staff of St Robert's facilitates events but we encourage many pupils to take the lead in their management which further develops their wider skill set.

All pupils have the opportunity to earn House Points all day every day; everything from their classwork effort to their musical prowess and manners can contribute to the scores. At the end of each week all of the House Points are added up and one House wins the overall trophy for the week, this is displayed in the school hall.
